The Dax Centre developed strong links with CHE through a series of education and outreach events, including the symposium Try Walking in My Shoes, which explored portrayals of mental illness in film and television and its impact on the community. The symposium had a particular focus on the emotion of empathy, women’s mental health, and the portrayal of mental illness in Australian films. Films such as Romulus, My Father; Shine; The Home Song Stories; Cosi; Angel Baby; Mental; An Angel at My Table; Sweetie; The Black Balloon; Mary & Max were given particular attention.
