A model for using Visual Art as stimulus for developing the Victorian Curriculum Critical and Creative thinking and Ethical Capabilities.

This professional learning program for Primary School Teachers will:

  • Explore the critical and creative thinking strategies developed through the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) Victorian Primary School Philosothon
  • Demonstrate ways of using art to analyse and evaluate ethical issues
  • Model a Community of Inquiry
  • Present ways of developing a Philosothon at an Art Gallery in your region
  • Introduce the 2017 NGV exhibition'Love: Art of Emotion 1400–1800'
  • Showcase related art activities

Program

9am–10.40am

  • NGV Victorian Primary School Philosothon
  • Critical and creative thinking strategies developed through the NGV Primary School Philosothon
  • Using art to analyse and evaluate ethical issues
  • Ways of developing a Philosothon at an Art Gallery in your region
  • Introduce the 2017 NGV exhibition'Love: Art of Emotion 1400–1800'

10.40am–11am: Morning tea

11am–12.30pm

  • Demonstration of Community of Inquiry
  • Art activity demonstration
  • Q&A and information sharing
