Timber, a masterpiece of Senecan
prose, is probably best known as evidence of Jonson's relationship
with Shakespeare and the literary society of his day. But it also
provides striking insight into Jonson's theories on poetry, his
stoic ethics, and his thoughts on the role of the artist and
counsellor in an age of autocracy.
All are welcome to participate in the discussion-no prior
knowledge beyond a reading of the text is expected.
