Lecture Abstract
When assessing an artist's career, certain moments stand out for
their exceptional cretivity or dramatic change. Albrecht
Dürer truly came of age in 1498 just three years after establishing
his Nuremberg workshop. His prints' technical virtuosity and
visual sophistication dazzled viewers and surpased his
rivals. The Apocalypse, the first book designed and
published by an artis, earned him international fame. He
studied nudes and experimented with perspective. Dürer's ambition
culminated in his remarkable Self-Portrait
, and how he chose to fashion himself.
