Applications close 15 December 2019
Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions
Early Career International Research Fellowships Program
As part of its international research collaboration, CHE will fund excellent international Early Career Researchers in the field to visit The University of Western Australia, for a period of up to one month, to work with members of the Centre on a research program of their choice. Travel to other universities that have CHE nodes is highly encouraged, but financial support from CHE for this purpose is contingent on funding availability. For more information on the Centre’s research activities across Australia, see our website: http://www.historyofemotions.org.au/
Since the object of the Early Career International Research Fellowships is primarily to promote collaborative research, the Fellows will not be required to undertake any undergraduate teaching, but will be required to deliver at least one paper or lecture.
The Fellowship will fund the Visiting Fellow’s return airfare to Australia (economy), accommodation on campus (or private, e.g. Airbnb) up to a maximum of $180 per night, access to an office, UWA’s libraries, and a convivial community of researchers.
Applicants are eligible to apply if they:
- Hold a doctorate in a relevant field of study, gained in the period 2009–2019;
- Currently residing outside of Australia
ARC CHE is now issuing a call for applications for Early Career International Research Fellowships, to be taken over the period 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2021. Applicants should provide:
- An up-to-date academic CV of no more than 6 pages. Note: applicants’ research track records will be judged relative to opportunity;
- A description, no longer than two A4 pages, of the proposed research to be undertaken during the Fellowship, including a statement of how the research relates to the Centre's overall research into the history of emotions and the proposed outcomes of the research (e.g. draft of an article, perhaps jointly authored with one or more CHE member(s), development of further research interchange and collaborative activities, and so on). It is required that CHE support be acknowledged in any publication deriving from the Fellowship;
- The name(s) of CHE staff with whom the applicant wishes to collaborate, the preferred dates of the fellowship, and a list of all the CHE Nodes that will be visited during the duration of the stay. (It is hoped that successful applicants will take the opportunity to develop research associations with members of the Centre. Applicants are encouraged to seek advice on their proposed projects from appropriate CHE personnel);
- The names and contact details of two referees.
